Re: Tooley Street
The brewery of Clowes, Newbury and Maddox sat on Stoney Lane, Tooley Street in Bermondsey, painted in 1827. Stoney Lane is now Abbotts Lane which is next to the old Fire Station.
Built and opened in 1977, ‘Skate City’ was a phenomenon when it opened although it closed after only a short time. Occupying three acres, it cost £100,000 to build and was completed in six weeks. The park consisted of a freestyle area, a fifty-yard slalom run, a half pipe and several bowls.
