Note the wartime shields on the lights for 'blackout' purposes.

In the '40s and '50s, tickets for various destinations were
kept in a rack and 'punched' as necessary.

Route 56 was replaced by Route 184 in October 1951. The large background building was the ABC Cinema, and the sloping roof premises was a horse stables at one time.
