Two photo's from Anita Wilson.

Wilson Grove taken 9/1/45 by my aunt to send to my
dad who was either in Egypt or Sicily.

Wilson Grove as it is today.

I wasn't born until 1962, but thats how I remember Wilson Grove when I was growing up, until they pulled all the warehouses down. I never thought that I would miss them. My aunt took the photo to show my Dad some snow, when he was away during the war. She wrote the date on the back of the photo

This is Jamaica Road, taken from Major Road. Wilson Grove is out of sight to the right.

Cheers Fogbrain, your right Jamaica Road.Wilson Grove is where the the building on the far right is.
What threw me was I assumed the building in the middle was a pub but couldn’t remember or locate any pub being just there in Jamaica Road,so went with what it said, Wilson Grove. What do they say don’t assume.

Yes, I thought it looked like a pub, but couldn't find any record of one at that address. But then I looked closer - it's a bank. It says "(something) Bank Limited", and the 'something' is fairly long, maybe Martin's, but I think it's Barclay's.

Hi Fogbrain, I think you could be right on both accounts, as Barclay’s Bank merged with Martins Bank in about 1969, so it could be before Barclay’s changed the names?. We know the picture states Wilson Grove 1960 and is wrong, so there is a good chance the date of the picture is 1969 or after?.
