This was taken outside a pub in the New Kent Road. It was probably either the Prince Consort or the Crown and Anchor. Date = circa 1938. My father, Bill Ripper, is in the second row with squiggly lines on his tie. Billy Northwood is standing next to him, but I don't know which side.

To be honest I never knew where to post this picture on site, it could be almost any street in Bermondsey. Being a Sweeper I did think of putting it in the Millwall posts, (just my stab at humour)
I know it is an old photo & a long shot (no pun intended) but maybe someone may recognise the gentleman.

Hi Paperboy looking at your picture above with your Dad outside the pub and your comment “It was probably either the Prince Consort or the Crown and Anchor,” I have seen a picture stating it is outside the Prince Consort. Having no clear picture of the Prince Consort or the Crown & Anchor but looking closer at your picture you can see on the Pub door a pattern which looks very much like the pattern on the Crown & Anchor door. (New Kent Road Topic). Obviously, it does not prove anything but I wonder what you think? KIWI.
