Private Lee O'Callaghan, who died in Basra on 9 August 2004, was a member of 1st Battalion, The Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment, based at Tidworth.
Private Lee O'Callaghan Lee came from Bermondsey, London, he was aged 20 and Unmarried, he was serving with the 1st Battalion the Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment. Lee joined the Princess of Wales Royal Regiment in December 2003 before he was killed during an attack by insurgents, in the city of Basra. A new street has been named in honour of Lee (O’Callaghan Way) in the nearly completed section of Elephant Park, and will link Heygate Street with Wansey Street, Elephant & Castle. Millwall, A memorial bench to a war hero who died while serving in Iraq, was unveiled at The Den in 2019, Pte Lee O’Callaghan.
