Hi Tinaf, welcome to the site. The good news is Layard Road is still there though very much changed. You say you have no recollection of the area and unfortunately now we have no old pictures of Layard Road from the 1950s to 1960s or earlier. This is what Layard Road looks like today, so hope this helps. Have a good trip and visit with your brother when you go back to London.

Hi all,
Here’s a picture of my Dad, John James outside our house at 32 Layard Road.
His brother, my uncle Roy James is mentioned earlier in this post.
I remember living upstairs at no.32 with my Mum and Dad until we moved down the Blue in about 1971 when I was five.
My Nan, Ellen (Nell) and Granddad, Alf lived downstairs.
The rear entrance to my old school, Southwark Park is at the end on the right.

Hi Andrew (drewjames14) welcome to the site. Like the picture we tend to forget how nice these street were back then and not many cars. Is that a Morris Minor with a Hillman Minx in front?,cars with character and you could repair them yourself not like to-day. ;)
