MYSTERY-DO YOU RECOGNISE THESE PLACES OR PEOPLE?
Re: MYSTERY-DO YOU RECOGNISE THESE PLACES?
Cheers Fogbrain, that is brilliant, once again you have come up with goods. I had tried for ages to locate just where these two places were and had just about given up.
Re: MYSTERY-DO YOU RECOGNISE THESE PLACES?
Thanks, Kiwi, I surprise myself sometimes.
I was more surprised though to discover that the houses on the right (of which you can only see the window sills) survive. And surprised also to see that some front yards are separated by brick walls, albeit with sloping tops, but others by railings as they were before WWII.
This is the nearest that GSV gets to where the photographer stood on that snowy day outside № 32. There are trees there still, but much younger ones. There is still a telegraph pole, but again it is most unlikely to be the same one - they don't usually last more than about twenty-five years.

Any chance you might know where this companies depot was in Rotherhithe. The company had a oil refinery and there main office was in Cheshire.
