Wow - there's a lot of faces to be identified. Required viewing for oneone that frequented that pub. (I didn't).

Great video - a real time-capsule and amazing to think most of those people will be in their 60's now. I should think most of the blokes will have a lot less hair now.

Even those that haven't gone bald!
Given that they were probably all slightly under age, that would make them about 56 to 58.

We used to drink in the Apples & Pears on a Wednesday late 60's early 70's they always finished the evening with the Moody Blues singing Go Now. Anyone remember.

Yes never went to the pub without hearing the Moody Blues at the end of the evening. The opening night of the A&P had a DJ with double turntables playing Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams etc. Very upmarket with tables and chairs in the bar. This lasted a few days before the younger generation took over. Then you had to buy a crate of light ales and take outside as it took about and hour to get through to the bar and get a round in. I remember the pot man / bouncer as Frank who was there for years. Anyone remember him?
Great pubs close by were Teddy Haynes' Prince of Wales where you got locked in all night and the Lord Wellington. Does anybody remember the resident Friday night group 'The Shufflers Sound'. Believe the keyboard player was blind and they played a lot of Drifters music.

We used to use Teddy Haynes pub on Tuesdays, another pub with character, nice standing outside in the summer. Teddy always said that the pub was haunted, told us several stories about his experiences there, I guess they should come under another heading.

I used to drink there through the 1970's, but was a bit too young to be in the film  Does anyone remember the names of any of the old landlords of the Apples and Pears?

With me mates we always had an early Sunday night when they opened and then we walked to the Temple bar in the Walworth Road.
One Sunday we were outside the public bar at 7 o'clock waiting for the doors to open, when we heard lots of smashing and banging and a girl screaming we run round to the saloon bar door at the front of the pub and we saw a gang of men with axes and pick ax handles running out down the steeps and away. When we went in the bar it was smashed to pieces and the poor old barmaid was in hysterics. Not a bottle or glass was left and the bar top had been chopped up with the girl out Side and calmed down a bit, the Old Bill arrived and we were ushered away. As you know you never asked questions but we all had an idea, a bit of a disagreement with the locals and them from over the river.

Does anyone remember a band called ' a bigger splash' they had a residency there about 1980. Great little pub rockers.
