Swan Mead was called Brandon Street, changed name sometime between the late 1800s & the early 1900s.

Swan Mead. A troop of Life Guards of the Household Cavalry on a visit to Bermondsey, not sure why they were there. My Nan lived in the flat on the balcony on the right and many a time I ran along the shelter where the boys are in the late 1940s & 50s :)

Swan Mead, Kitty North's Swan Mead Gallery, I think this was a Leather Tannery.

On the left in the picture above (white building). This was a shop in the late 1940s and I think it was called Lushes.? They would sell you anything, one egg, half a loaf and you wouldn’t believe this, one cigerette (Fags in those days), which my mum would send me round to get.
