(Yesterday & Today)
Picture of Thorburn Square in 1963 as I remember it going to the church with the cub pack the area is now unrecognisable
The modern picture and I suppose it compliments the area
All that remains is the church

What a great square that would be today! I went to cubs there early to mid sixties. Blue sixer! I used to walk home to the flats in Longfield estate and get some sweets in the off licence on the way home

The square has flats round all four sides; in the centre is St Anne's church, (visible on the left of the photo) South side c 2009.

I have started a thread earlier regarding my father who was vicar at St Anne’s from 1952 till 11959.

Hi Dave
Yes i have read your post, it is in the (Members short stories)
Your dad sounds like he had wonderful long life, was he born in Bermondsey?
Are you still living in lincolnshire, as you can guess that many of us of a certain age have moved out of Bermondsey for different reasons,
It's just not the same anymore....
I'm sure you have many stories to tell about Bermondsey and i look forward to reading them.
If you have any problems with the site please feel free to e-mail me.
