Re- General Strike 1926 picture above. I think that is Princess Street on the right, with Gaywood Street the next street down on the right. If you look at Gaywood Street? in both pictures you can just about make out the white image below the street sign.
The only doubt I have is that on some maps this corner is shown as a ruin, let me know if I am wrong.

Yes I agree the picture(s) are of Gaywood Street. As you say Princess Street is to the right, but off screen.
Shame coz that is the very street my ggGrandfather, Thomas Bunyan, lived in from about 1845. The 1851 census says he was a Beer Shop Keeper at No 6 Princess Street. Sadly in Sep 1851 he died aged 54, but his son, also Thomas, carried on as a Beer Shop Keeper at No 6. ▶ Look up Mrs (Mary Ann) Bunyan of The Hand in Hand Beer Shop, 6 Princes Street.
