This is looking towards New Church Road with the Surrey Canal towpath behind. The street is a dirt track, and no longer exists, all the buildings were demolished to make way for Burgess Park.

Hi Ray,

The picture of the shops in New Church Road reminds me of when I worked for Wallis TV & Radio, many years ago!
We had a second TV shop on the corner of NCR and Edmund Street.
Of course, the shops in the image were probably long gone by then, our TV shop was under was under flats, probably built in the 50/60's.
The whole area was pretty run down by the early to mid 80's and after our second ram raid, taking out the whole shop front with a stolen flat bed lorry, my boss decided to call it a day.
Looking on Street View now, the whole area has completely changed... the only recognisable building is Evelina Mansions!

George Street, no longer there. Ran between New Church Road and Camberwell Green, roughly where Lomond Grove is today.
