Although its not actually in Bermondsey but part of Walworth I am sure many of us did walk down the street in the on the way to East Street market.
The actual site of Villa Street is half way down Albany Road on the right and is now forms part of the Aylesbury Estate.
The original Yates estate before the Aylesbury estate was built was the brainchild of Edward Yates a builder who constructed houses from the south of Old Kent Road to as far as Nunhead starting n about 1870
The family firm still exists and is based in Southwark and there main occupation id to renovate the older type property.
Villa Street

Re: VILLA STREET/WOOLER STREET.
Both Pictures state Villa Street, c1900 & 2020, looking towards Wooler Street with Aylesbury Road right. The 2020 picture is right, the c1900 picture is possibly right and i'm assuming this is the same location
Both pictures have the large building in the background, which I think is the school in Trafalgar Street, ok. If that is the case in c1900 this part of Villa Street was called Ewhurst Street and Aylesbury Road on the right was called Shaftsbury Street.
Wooler Street (formerly Webb Street c1860) is at the end with a small street to the right called Rope Street, which unfortunately we cannot see.
