The Dockers Shelter, Redriff Road, Rotherhithe Now used as a large bus shelter, this was historically the place where dock workers would wait to find casual piece work. It says Redriff Road my memory is saying Redriff Way, anyone know??
REDRIFF ROAD
Re: REDRIFF ROAD
Lift bridge, Redriff Road, Rotherhithe.
This bridge was originally built in 1949 and used at Deptford Creek before being moved
here to what was Surrey Docks in 1959.
The road has since been diverted the lifting bridge is still in place today, part of the area's history, but no longer carries the road. The road has been diverted over a new fixed bridge alongside.

Re: REDRIFF ROAD
Grand Surrey Canal.
During the 1980s, the LDDC took over, and invested heavily in the redevelopment of the area. About half of Canada Dock was infilled and the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre built on top of it; the remainder was converted into the present lake and wildlife refuge.
