This part of Bermondsey Wall East was formerly Rotherhithe Street.
In the rare 1922 photo below, that's Alfred Hitchcock (with moustache?) squatting beside the camera and gesturing across the road at actress Clare Greet. The occasion was the filming of Number Thirteen (aka Mrs Peabody) on location outside the public house, "The Angel", in Rotherhithe, London.

Re: BERMONDSEY WALL EAST
Cherry Gardens is a small, recently created public garden between the river and Bermondsey Wall East. Cherry trees grow there, echoing and commemorating the cherry orchard that flourished here in the 17th century.

Surrey and Kent Duffield Sluice.
This was part of the drainage system that kept the south bank free from flooding Main sewer from Duffield Sluice near Cherry Garden, Rotherhithe to the dead head near Lambeth Palace; Duffield Sewer from the west end of Spa Road to its outlet at Duffield Sluice; Duffield sluice {we think they mean ‘sewer’} from the place it takes the water near Lambeth Palace to where it empties itself at Bermondsey Wall; Duffield Sewer from the Bricklayers Arms to Star Corner and to the west end of Spa Road.

I'd often wondered about that building. Thanks for the intro, kiwi. There's a fascinating page on the Duffield Sluice at https://www.ianvisits.co.uk/blog/2012/08/19/the-remains-of-duffields-sluice-in-bermondsey/
Re: BERMONDSEY WALL EAST
The statues of Dr Alfred Salter, his wife Ada and their daughter Joyce (and cat) can now be seen on Bermondsey Wall East. (2014). Three years ago, Dr Salter was stolen leaving his daughter and the family cat by the river wall. The Salter family statues can be found next to The Angel pub.
