But to follow on with we have a picture of the bomb site between Alderminster Road with its junction with St James Road looking across the bomb site. Lynton Road to the right and Monnow Road crossing we can just see on the corner of Monnow Road with its junction with Lynton Road the shop on the corner next to the prefabs that used to be Mendittas barber shop a hair cut at that time was 6d for boys in real money some 3p in todays value," those were the days " on this site the cycle speedway took place and it later become Paterson Park
The modern picture from google is taken from the junction of Monnow Road and Lynton Road looking across the park towards St James Road

- Patterson Park, Lynton Road. Jim Longbom holds the inside line at the Lynton Lynx track. Many of the bikes were homemade - with no brakes.
