Bartholomew Street
Formerly known as Carter Street, Bartholomew Street runs between New Kent Road and Great Dover Street.
Picture 1 shows the Beehive Public House on the corner of Deverell Street, the northern end of the street suffered severe bomb damage during 1940, the pub being hit many times on 29 September and again on the 29 October, but still opened and was later rebuilt.
Past the pub there was severe damage and another pub which stood on the far end of Bartholomew Street at the junction with Great Dover Street was destroyed, as were many houses. I am unaware what this pub was called? The houses on the rght in the picture were later removed and the whole of the right side of this street become part of the School.
Picture 2 shows the bomb damage that took place at the far end
