Re: Ilderton Road
So it appears huge changes are afoot for Ilderton Road
and the surrounding area!
There are plans for extensive regeneration which seems
to suggest demolition of a lot of the commercial buildings
and turning the area back into residential again.
The link to this info below...

In the images attached, just for reference, the image
that shows the business on the far left street corner is
Rollins Street.
I’m in the throws of moving down to the Kent coast, and it’s
unlikely I’ll be visiting my old stamping ground again.
Sad, but I think if I was to drive down Ilderton Road in a
few years time, there would be nothing recognisable
to me anymore

Re: Ilderton Road
So, it appears that pretty much the whole of Ilderton Road is about to be redeveloped!

In a way, I guess way overdue...
But I can't help feeling that the Ilderton Road I grew up in is just another Bermondsey ghost!

Hi Ray,
Yes, I certainly do...
The b/w pictures were taken around the late 70's, early 80's I reckon.

Kiwi, could you do a then-and-now Streetview for the third image (the one captioned Ilderton Road)? I can’t work out where it stood or what stands there now! Many thanks

Hi GSLondon.
The last time I was here was over 50plus years ago, so my best guess is here but I could be wrong, this is from 2015, so it also could have changed. This is looking toward Rotherhithe New Road with the shops on the right.
Brian, (member briancreasey44) is the go-to man for Ilderton Road, so I am sure he will let us know if I am wrong.

Hi All,
So, the B/W image (Ilderton Road) was taken from pretty much where the furthest red car is in the second image.
It's at this point that the road layout at that end of Ilderton Road changed in the 80's.
Part of the original road was retained for parking along where the shops are, but the new road and junction were moved slightly further south.

Thanks so much, Kiwi and Brian
Re: Ilderton Road
I’m not sure if it was used as an annexe for Collingwood Girls School.
