Entrance to house once belonging to Thomas Huxley, 88 Paradise Street. c.1930.
Late 18oo's Thomas Henry Huxley (1825-1895) lived next door to the Ark. He was an excellent biologist and famous for backing the endeavours of Charles Darwin. He was given the nick name “Darwins Bulldog". I assume the Ark is The Ark Mission?

Crime in Rotherhithe was rife back in the 1900s. Many thieves would have been hanged at Cuckold’s Point, which was roughly where Columbia Wharf is today.

It is Paradise Street, but the other side - №s 96-110, right to left.
London Picture Archive is currently revamping the titles and descriptions of the pictures in the LCC Photograph Library collection. Unfortunately, the volunteer to whom this box was allocated hasn't spotted that the original title and description were wrong.

That's Huxley's Tenements, named after Thomas Huxley - "Darwin's Bulldog". There's no modern housing there, it's all part of King's Stairs Gardens.
