The Ark,was founded by a Christian man named Reuben Harris c 1860, who had been a Christian Sunday School Teacher. Mr Harris could not, however be content with the old Church ways and set up a place of Worship with a large Sunday School on independent lines. More information on page 1.

Constructed in the 1930s, it is built out of concrete and brick and is relatively low-rise at 4 storeys tall. To the north, the estate is bounded by Bermondsey Wall East, to the west by West Lane (on the opposite side of which is the West Lane Estate), and to the south by Paradise Street. Prior to construction, the site was home to back to back houses. There a total of 6 blocks on the estate containing a total of 76 flats.

Mill Pond Bridge, Near West Lane & Paradise Street. If you look at Fosneys map on page 1, Mill Pond Bridge was roughly where the red arrow is.
