Now Weston Street. The tariff of the feast is 20 shillings,
1 pound per head, this is 1936, when working men would
not earn that a week.

Tanners Company of Bermondsey,59 Centre Point, SE1. 2016.
As we can see formed in 1703, I was surprised that it is still operating today.

Nice easier one for tonight. This time Weston St in 1960. We are standing just by the turning into Small St and to our right is the south entrance into the Leathermarket (the one that was damaged in the war). The building at the end is still there. Fosney, can you do the honours with a current view?

Attached is a view of Weston St school in the 1930s. Unfortunately the spire is just out of the photo.

This view is of the school looking North. There are some 3 storey buildings to the south of the school but the original photo was definitely 1930s vintage and these look like they were in use in the 60s.

Here's another comparison between Bermondsey today and yesterday. The first, is a view south along Weston St towards Long Lane, probably pre war. Looking towards the Leather Market which we can see further down on the left with Molesworth Square on the right also on the right is a view into Weston Place (just behind the lampost) which connected into Long Lane.

Next is the view today and the reason for the triangular service road in front of the 2 tower blocks is clear. They keep the old streetline of Molesworth square. It was probably something to do with rights of way, as the line of Richardson St between Long lane and guys was also kept when the area was redeveloped in the 60s.
