PEEK FREAN.

Postby kiwi » Sat Feb 18, 2017 4:26 am

Peek Frean, Clements Road/Drummond Road, Bermondsey. The opening of the factory in 1866 and the sweet-emanating smell resulted in Bermondsey gaining the nickname "Biscuit Town”

I bet a few of us can remember Punch & Judy, I used to love it, still do. I gather that in Parliament in the UK, Prime Minister’s Question time has become known as “Punch & Judy politics”, well you can add the NZ Parliament to that. Wouldn’t it be good if you could just pull the curtain and pack them away? “THAT’S THE WAY TO DO IT! Just the Biscuit. ;)

When we lived in Bermondsey in the 60's my mum got a job in Peak Freans and every Friday night she would come home from work with a huge plastic bag full of broken biscuits that were not for the general public, but was ok for us! Me and my brother really looked forward to Friday evenings :D :D :D :D
