Linsey Street

Top end of Linsey Street as I remember it at the junction with Lucy Road you are still being able to see the Railway Arches that led to St James Road. In the picture we see that the pub has closed, could this picture have been taken shortly before the redevelopment of the area started taking place ?

Hi Lads,Thanks for the new photos of Linsey Street, I used to live in Linsey Street starting in july 1952 after marrying my wife Beryl we had two rooms upstairs in 34 Linsey with Beryl's parents Bill and Charlotte Todd, or course the street was all houses in those days we also knew the Tuckers who lived next door. Bill Todd Used to work for Courages. lorry driver and Mr Tucker was a docker both until yhey tetired. Chick's was our regular shop for most things and the Blue for everything else.
a name that I remember is Mrs Millifanti piano teacher in Reverdy Road.

When the council demolished our houses we moved, along with many from Linsey street to Larch, Beech and Pine on Ainsty estate. I liked living in Linsey there was some very nice people there.

Thank all of you on this site for the memories you have given me.
