Tanner St junction with Tower Bridge Road. During the demolition of the last functioning tannery S.O. Rowe. S.O.Rowe & Son PLC was the last working tannery in the region it closed in c1997. Sarson's chimney and vats just visible.

Tanner Street Formerly Russell Street. When it was Russell Street c1860, the far end was called Fashion Street before it got to Thornton Street now Tooley Street.
- Tanner Street Nos.118-122, 1938. Row of shops including Robinsons gramophone shop, and a tobacco and sweet shop.

Hi,
My great grandfather was left as an infant on the doorstep of the Simmons factory. We never discovered the circumstances of his birth however he was raised by the family and given the name Robert Tanner. He later moved to Wales and very little is known of his time there
