Grange Road, these buildings where on the corner of, then Bermondsey New Road (right) and Grange Road, Nos 5-7. 5. Abraham Burton’s toy dealership and number 7, the archway on the left gives access to David and Benjamin Gladding’s rug making works. The buildings from the archway to now Tower Bridge Road right were demolished for the re-alignment of the road. Number 8 is left of the archway, both still there today.

STILL GOING STRONG.
Kintore Way Nursery School, in Bermondsey, took its first pupils in January 1939, and many of them, were evacuated to Surrey and Kent under the threat of German doodlebugs.
The Bermondsey nursery is celebrating its second ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating in a row, (2017.)
During a visit to Kintore Way Nursery School, in Grange Road, inspectors found the nursery continued to be outstanding following its previous outstanding rating in September 2013.
The Bermondsey nursery which was one of a handful of nursery schools built before the war has just celebrated its eightieth anniversary. 2019.
