The new palatial, marble Swimming and Turkish baths erected by the Bermondsey Corporation in Grange Road, at a cost of £ 150, 000, September 1927.

I think this is before it opened?

I can remember going downstairs at the baths to have a tin mug of hot Oxo and a slice of bread after swimming, anyone else remember doing this? (1940s,50s).

Earlier than the 70's - looks very 50's but probably early 60's. The newest car is the Ford Consul/Zephyr/Zodiac mark 2 (1958-62). Also look at the zebra crossing and compare to this photo from the opposite direction in taken March 1969:
The Horns.jpg
The Horns stood opposite the swimming Baths and was on the corner of The Grange

Same area today with white van entering The Grange

freddies picture from 1969 of Grange Road with The Grange on the right past the pub is also a classic for its time, since it was taken the whole area had changed and is now unrecognisable except for the zebra crosssing and the old shops at the corner of The Grange.

Once again in my youth I can remember the shop at the corner with The Grange being a motor service shop with the workshops on the left as you enter The Grange

I think I remember it being a garage (at least up until the 70s possibly into the 80s). As you say the garage doors were in the Grange with a shop front in Grange Rd?.

Todays picture looking towards Spa Road and Grange Road.
I would agree with freddie that the original picture by crosby34 is circa 1950. The building on the corner of Spa Road had gone but the others including the pub "New Tanners Arms" remain, the end of Bermondsey Baths can be seen and in the distance we can see the houses that stood opposite the Boucher School.
With todays picture all that remains unchanged is the zebra crossing and the corner shop at the end of Woodlands Place which used to lead down to the old BBC washhouse the shop is now Tandoori which I am sure in my younger days was a bakers then

Hi Joe your comments on Woodlands place bring back a lot of memories some very sad,
Lost Mum only a few months ago, She used to go to the BBC Washhouse with the weeks laundery. it was my job every Tuesday morning on the way to Webb Street School then Bacon's In Grange road, to book a machine for her on tuesday evening, She would take it down when she got in from work, start it off, then come prepare the tea, and go back to finish it off. We did not appricate what they did for us.
Also the Tandoori was a bakers & a cafe when I went swimming in the baths in the late fifties
After we come out used to go to the Bakery who sold slices of Bread pudding the sizes being 1d-2d and if you was well off 3d could last all day on that. It was always called Dustmans wedding cake. LOVELY. Rick

Looking at Grange Road from the junction with Spa Road although the picture is not that clear we can see all the buildings that stood in that part of grange Road including the steeple oof St pauls Church
