This part of Upper Ground was called Upper Ground Street. The part by Waterloo Bridge was called Commercial Road. Boddy's Bridge was on the otherside of the Engineering Works (left)

The Shot Tower was in Old Shot Tower Wharf which was off Commercial Road and near to where Gabriel’s Wharf is today.

Upper Ground. At the end of 1850 Tilley & Co became Shand & Mason.

If you look at the map (first Post) it looks as though Upper Ground went right and (Old) Barge House Street went straight on.

This was roughly between Boddy’s Bridge & Stamford Street.
