Re: MONNOW ROAD.
At the coronation of the Queen in June 1953 Monnow Road School hosted a fancy dress coronation party for local kids.
In this photo you can see me (jockey), my elder brother (Bill Ripper - not in fancy dress despite the size of his collar), my cousin Alan Curtis (wearing the fez - it also looks like he has cowboy chaps on) and my cousin Joyce Sanders (princess).Re: MONNOW ROAD.
Nice picture Paperboy helps to bring the street to life. I wonder if you know anyone here?
Re: MONNOW ROAD.
That's got me questioning my photo. I've only recited what I've been told and I think I remember being at the party and I'm pretty certain that was in Monnow Road School. Bear in mind I was not yet 4 years old at the time. The thing is, why would the school have two parties for the same event and the photos show one as fancy dress and the other as smart dress, but wearing crowns? It doesn't make sense.
I'll ask my brother and my mother if the story I've got is wrong. I don't recognize anybody in your photo, Kiwi

33 Monnow Road
Hi Everyone
My family lived at 33 Monnow Road, which was in the small section at the Bricklayers Arms end of the road, but they got bombed out during World War 2
I know this is a long shot but would anyone know of any photographs existing of that small area before, during or after WW2
Thanks very much
David
