In c1900 on the left was Bengal Wharf, and on the other corner of Gainsford Street was Fogg’s Wharf.

Percy Dobson, a master baker, and confectioner bought the building in 1950 and his daughter and son later both joined him in the business, until 1970.

CORNWALL ROAD/ ETHELM STREET, WATERLOO.

Ethelm Street ran from Cornwall Road behind the photographer through to Eaton Street which was renamed Greet Street c.1935. The road crossing is Windmill Street, now Windmill Walk. The Prince Alfred Pub is on the left (closed c1909), address 98 Cornwell Road, which would make it beside Evans Grocery...

Looking at old maps I think the Walkden Works was roughly about here, backing onto the Surrey Canal.
