In c1900 on the left was Bengal Wharf, and on the other corner of Gainsford Street was Fogg’s Wharf.

Cheers Vreagh, like you I used to eat in there, and of course on the rank to load up at the wharfs, fancy forgetting that. Sometimes the light is on, but there is no one at home.

I remember Joe’s but cannot place where it was, possibly corner with Shad Thames?. Does anyone know.

Percy Dobson, a master baker, and confectioner bought the building in 1950 and his daughter and son later both joined him in the business, until 1970.

Ethelm Street ran from Cornwall Road behind the photographer through to Eaton Street which was renamed Greet Street c.1935. The road crossing is Windmill Street, now Windmill Walk.
