My Nan Johanna Hayes was living at 22 Coxson's Place in the 1911 census. She never said! Yet as kids we were always in the Park and on the road itself, in which we played cricket if the Hop Warehouse was not working. My bedroom was over the Arch in Devon Mansions and we went to the Park by sqeezing ...

I lived in Balin House Long Lane 1962-68. The old Miller was patronised by the Guys rugby team and we stole and adapted one of their songs for our College side (not repeatable). Used to fancy the girl who served in the greengocers and who seemed to enhance the display.

My grandparents Debnam lived in Martin Crescent until 1952. Though I was only 5 I remember playing often on the bombsite opposite.
