Re: FLOCKTON STREET

Cheers Fogbrain. I assume that is the Riverside School on the left in Janeway Street. Indeed. The building on the right also survives; it houses an electricity transformer (and possibly already did when the photo was taken), but was previously a stable with a hayloft, a not uncommon repurposing in ...

This photo is of Bevington Street, looking south from Bermondsey Wall. (Flockton Street was narrower - the car would have filled it!).

Re: GARDEN ROW/CLARENCE PLACE

Thanks, Kiwi, that's exactly right - Clarence Place is out of site behind the ironically named Garden Row. The building in the background is Central Street School. Collage has apparently removed 'Southwark' from the caption, so are apparently aware that it wasn't right, but maybe haven't worked out ...

This photo is of Clarence Street, Finsbury, looking south from Lever Street. Garden Row is the row of houses beyond the fence.

Not demolished - being refurbished and will be part of London Bridge Station, a retail unit I should think, perhaps even a pub.

Not yet! But "time" was called a while ago.

Re: Brunel Road - Rotherhithe

Picture states, Adam Street numbers 47-49. I think this maybe Brunel Road? Adam Street is indeed the original name for Brunel Road - the street predates the Thames Tunnel by many years. It is after the street that the pub therein was named. The building on the right is indeed Rotherhithe Station, b...

Re: OLD KENT ROAD.

This part of OKR was known as Sussex Place in the 1860s. Sussex Place was the terrace of houses further to the north-west that became 464-484 OKR; 464 was on the corner of Ossory Road. This was a common practice by developers to make the new properties sound posher and it has been continued since, ...
