Re: MAGUIRE STREET, SHAD THAMES.

I may be wrong on this, but I think the Shad Thames Pumping Station is now roughly where the Café was. It's a really close call, but the cafe was the last building along the street on the site now occupied by the former warehouse called Tamarind Court, right next door to the pumping station. The ar...

Re: Jamaica Road/Union Road.

Picture states, Major Road, Southwark, c1909. Maybe someone can confirm, one way or the other. The photo is of Major Works - Jackson's french polish factory in Major Road. Hancock's was at 122 Jamaica Road. I suspect that sign in Major Road is an advertisement and has the Jamaica Road address in th...

This isn't Silwood Street or Silwwod Estate, it's John Kennedy House (formerly Faber House) with Rotherhithe Old Road in the background.

kiwi wrote:I’m almost certain this is Barlow Street looking towards Darwin Street. Darwin Buildings would be to the left with Davies Dairy across the road on the corner of Darwin Place.
It's Crail Row with Darwin Buildings on the right and the shop on the corner with Hemp Row in the background.

It's not Tustin Street, it's Ormside Street. The Regal can be seen on the other side of Old Kent Road. The tall building is The Rising Sun.

Re: Rotherhithe New Road

I remember this building but just cannot think what or who was in there, can anyone else remember. :?: Rotherhithe New Road, Bermondsey. Railway Bridge and Caine Hill Café to the right. X.png I don't think I ever knew. The 1941 trade directory lists it as William Harbrow Ltd, builders. Presumably i...
